Strawberry Fields for Never
Read Together: February 2025
Strawberry Fields for Never, by Kate Watson
In my post titled, "Coming Soon", I shared about a few books we were about to get started on, and this was one of them. I'm not going to get into this one too much, because we all agreed that it was pretty much Strawberry Fields... Never Again!
Let me be fair... if you like wicked cheesy Hallmark movies, please start reading this book right now. Zero judgement! We chose (okay, I humbly admit to choosing this one!) this book for a couple of reasons. A fellow book lover, who I follow on Instagram, promotes closed door romances. We're all different on how much "spice" we prefer in a book, and I don't think any of us girls are particularly looking for spice. Sometimes, we're even intentionally avoiding it. But it doesn't mean we don't want to read a beautiful love story, or even a rom com. This closed-door romance recommendation seemed perfect, AND we'd be supporting an author that probably has a hard time getting that headliner attention. The second reason we chose this was because it was February... Valentine's Day! I thought we could make it a theme, and at the same time lighten the mood. Two of us had just read The Little Liar (Holocaust story), and one of us had heavy life stuff going on. We needed an airy, happily ever after! Well... we got all of the above, with all the cheese to go with it. The very best part of this experience was laughing together every time we hopped on Marco Polo with an update. Heather started reading first and she warned us about how often we would be hearing about Tripp (the tall, handsome farmer) and his "eight-pack". We were able to have some discussion about some of the topics that the author provided for us, but I honestly don't even recall! It definitely wasn't the type of book we typically read, and it was painful at times to get through it. Strangely though, Karyn and I both got a little emotional at the end! That's why I will say that while this writing and hallmark style wasn't quite for us, the author (and even this particular book) have some really good ratings and feedback. I guess we can say that there is a want for this genre for some people... just not us!
