It's so hard to pick just one... so let's just pick a bunch and figure it out! 




We all decided the next read would be Mitch Albom's, The Little Liar, another recommendation from my sister. Karyn and I have completed this book, but we advised Heather to think about waiting. Life was busy that week for her! She started to read and then realized our advice should be taken. Friends don't let friends read holocaust books at the wrong time! The Little Liar is one of those books that respectfully deserves the readers full attention. When you have things going on in your personal life that also require your full attention, there's no need to compete; the book can wait! Heather is eager to get to this book, so we will discuss eventually! Teaser... add it to your "must read" book list.


Fredrick Backman's, My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry is another "next up." We chose this because he has yet to disappoint. I was able to get it from my library, but it was on hold for Heather, so we decided to wait...only I'm not good at waiting, so I read it! The girls plan to read it over the next couple of weeks, and let's just say I cannot WAIT to discuss! 

 

This next one is kind of random... Kate Watson's, Strawberry Fields for Never. I came across this book through an Instagram account I follow (closeddoorromance). Rachel runs the account and gives readers an opportunity to find authors who write closed door romance novels. We wanted something carefree and easy to read while in limbo, and thought we'd give this a shot.  Heather is ahead on this one. So far, she compares it to a Hallmark movie... we shall see if we all agree!


Florence L. Barclay's, Through the Postern Gate... another one that sort of randomly came across our laps. Well, Heather's lap! A friend of hers collects old books and during a visit, lent it to Heather. It's a short one so we decided to throw it in the mix. It was first published in 1911, which gives me plenty of excitement alone to start reading.


Looking forward to sharing our reviews and feedback on these 4 very different books!

Read together January 2025 Before our "good company began", all three of us had previously read Fredrik Backman's, A Man Called Ove, which we LOVED.  I had read Anxious people a couple of years ago and thought it would be fun to read again with the girls. Let it be known, when I say "read" it might also be "listened", but I will likely clarify a bit with each review, because those narrators deserve a review too! I remembered what I loved most about (listening to) this book, was the narration. When I made the suggestion to read together, I had them sold on the audio version.    A little sidenote about us: presently, Karyn is mostly an audio reader, which is done where she spends 97% of her life... in her car. She still loves to cozy up on the couch or in bed with her Kindle or hard copy, but she can get way more books read with Audio versions! Night Road

Read Together January 2025 Night Road, by Kristin Hannah  This book came recommended by my sister, who thought it would be one we would all enjoy discussing. I was the odd man out in our club, being the only one who hadn't read a Kristin Hannah book. This is one of her earlier pieces, released in 2011. Sidenote: We had just finished Anxious People and were so eager to start our next book, Karyn surprised Heather by ordering a copy from Amazon (next day delivery) when Heather was put on a wait list at her library.  Karyn finished the book in a couple days, finishing just as Heather began. I finished the book the same day I started... well, into the wee hours of the morning of the following day (before Heather got her copy!). Karyn and I felt guilty for getting ahead of Heather, and guilty for not telling her! Read Together (sort of) February/March 2025 My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry By: Fredrik Backman Fredrik Backman, you have yet to disappoint! This book was not recommended by anyone, just on my personal TBR list. This book has two others that connect characters together, so I figured if we fell in love with some of those characters, we might not have to say goodbye at the end of this read! This was my third Fredrik Backman novel, and I'd put it up there in my second place of the three (A Man Called Ove would be my first, Anxious People would be third). We all loved it but had different takes on certain things.
